Apple unveiled their new tablet computer, the iPad, yesterday. Will you be dishing out $499 for this much-anticipated gadget?
Hells yeah! I want the 32 GB 3G one. But I probably won't get is right away. 90 days until it comes out, but I'm sure in the next 90 days I'll buy a mac mini. So I probably won't get one until August of something. Especially since I plan on moving soon too.
Nah, I don't know that I'd have much use for what's essentially a huge iTouch. I am hoping it will spur a price drop for the Mac Book Pro. It's been 4 years and nothing!

yeah but reading ebooks on an iTouch isn't the easiest thing to do. Plus it can work as a portable computer. For photographers and artists, it's a great way to show your work.

True. I watched some updates of the live feed of yesterday's reveal but haven't gotten into the details of the iPad specs, so I'm having a hard time seeing the tangible benefit of the iPad vs a laptop. Is it just me or does iPad strike you as a funny name?

lol, yeah They could have come up with a better name. Bad marketing team. I don't think it is meant to replace a laptop, the same way a netbook can't really replace a regular laptop. It's meant to be a portable device (like the Air), or in addition to whatever you have. But then again it depends on the user. There are some people that just need a computer to be able to access web resources, like email, or webpages for products and nothing else. I fall under super user and having to type on my iTouch annoys me, so typing on the iPad might annoy me even more. So I wouldn't be able to have that as my only computer.
